Kirkcudbright Academy

Kirkcudbright Academy is represented as a major partner on the steering group of Kirkcudbright Community Sport Hub.

The pupils of Kirkcudbright Academy have contributed to the consultation on local physical activity and sports provision which has informed the steering group and helped to shape plans for the community sport hub.

Pupils designed a selection of community sport hub logos which were put forward to the community for consultation and a winning design was chosen.

The community sport hub provides an ideal forum for clubs to develop effective partnerships with Kirkcudbright Academy and the cluster primaries. Through Active Schools clubs can deliver after school clubs, taster sessions or take part in events and festivals held at the schools, encouraging young people to become involved in their sport.

There are also opportunities for young people to benefit from gaining volunteering and leadership skills through the sports club environment. Young people interested in these opportunities should contact Mark Adams, Active Schools and Community Sport Officer
