The Stewartry Archers

Archer who holds his bow aims at targetOur club was formed in 1979, following successful night classes, to promote enjoyment of and participation in archery in the Stewartry. We meet on Fridays in Kirkcudbright Community Centre from October to March and, in the outdoor season we alternate between target archery at Dee Walk and field archery at a local farm.

With members whose age range is from 10 to 80 we have varied shooting styles and proficiency. We are an Accredited Sports Club and we affiliate to the Northern Field Federation which is a confederation of field archery clubs holding events throughout Dumfries and Galloway, the Borders, Cumbria and Northumberland.

We have equipment and coaching for beginners and have contacts with the other local clubs. We have run courses in the local schools and we provide “come and try” for some local events. One of our former members is a Junior Champion and one of our seniors has just won an indoor championship. We have had members with various disabilities and our main aim is to ensure you enjoy the experience of archery at whatever level you wish.
